Crowns

Crowns are one of the most common forms of tooth restoration performed at Cornerstone Family Dental. Drs. Dosch and Pittman have placed thousands of crowns to improve the health and beauty of our patients’ smiles. A porcelain or ceramic crown can restore the tooth’s integrity and function, minimizing further breakage and/or breakdown of tooth structure, and restoring the esthetic quality of the tooth.

Crowns are necessary if a tooth is cracked and needs to have its strength restored, a tooth has undergone root canal treatment, a tooth has very large restorations (fillings) that are compromising the tooth’s stability and esthetics, or you need a fixed bridge that attaches to a crown.

Crowns can be made of metal, ceramic, or a combination of the two. Most patients prefer ceramic crowns, as the color and translucency mimic that of natural teeth. Regardless of the material, your crown will need to be cared for just like the rest of your teeth—with daily brushing and flossing, and regular visits to our office for professional cleanings.

During your appointment at our Hutchinson dental office, we will discuss your medical and dental history and take study models, X-rays, and photographs to develop a comprehensive treatment plan. Since your goals and needs are unique, gathering all the necessary information is very important in helping you achieve the most beautiful, longest-lasting smile possible.
