We offer

Veneers

Veneers are an excellent cosmetic choice if you have several dental imperfections that need correcting, such as chips, cracks, stains, or even gaps. Veneers are made of very thin pieces of porcelain that fit over your existing teeth, effectively giving your smile a whole new look.

Whitening

Brushing and flossing are a great way to keep your teeth healthy, sparkly, and white, but what if you notice that they have lost some of their dazzle? If you have noticed that your teeth are more yellow than they used to be, you are not alone. This is a common issue and request at Cornerstone Family Dental. There are five main reasons that your teeth may have changed in color. They are the foods and drinks you consume, tobacco usage, your age, trauma, and certain medications.

How Does Whitening Work?

Whitening is a simple procedure involving the use of hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide. These bleaches break stains down into smaller particles creating a brighter, whiter appearance.

Will Whitening Work on All Teeth?

No, which is why it is important to talk to your dentist before deciding to whiten your teeth.  Whiteners may not correct all types of discoloration. For example, yellow teeth will probably bleach well, brown teeth may not respond as well and teeth with gray tones may not bleach at all. Whitening will not work on caps, veneerscrowns, or fillings. It also won’t be effective if your tooth discoloration is caused by medications or a tooth injury. There are options to whiten your smile in these situations. Please, ask us what would work best for you.

Whitening Options

Always talk to your dentist before starting. Let us put the sparkle back in your smile.

Custom Whitening Trays

We will take molds of your teeth and create trays for the most customized whitening experience. You will put a very small amount of professional-strength whitening gel in each tray and wear it for approximately 30 minutes for 1-2 weeks at a time.

Opalescence GO Trays

Opalescence GO is a prefilled whitening tray with professional-strength whitening gel in a convenient tray. It is available in two different strengths to accommodate those who have post-whitening sensitivity. The strength determines the length of time that you wear the trays ranging from 15-60 minutes for 1-2 weeks at a time.

Over-the-Counter Bleaching Products

There are many options available online and at your local drugstore, such as toothpaste or strips. The concentration of the bleaching agent in these products is lower than what your dentist can supply you with. If you choose to use an over-the-counter bleaching kit, look for one with the ADA Seal of Acceptance.

Are There Any Side Effects from Teeth Whitening?

The most common side effect of whitening is tooth sensitivity. In most cases, the sensitivity is temporary and can be alleviated by limiting or discontinuing use. Once the sensitivity has resolved, try again at a slower pace (shorter duration and alternating days of use). Some patients are more comfortable using a sensitive toothpaste during the whitening treatment.

Overuse of whiteners can also damage the tooth enamel or gums, so be sure to follow directions and talk to your dentist.

When it comes to your smile makeover, your comfort and care are our primary concerns. In addition to our advanced treatment options, we also offer several levels of sedation depending on the scope of your treatment.
